    OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

    The Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals (IVB) Department's mission is, "To promote the health and well-being of all people, in all countries, by advancing the impact of vaccines and immunization programmes through partnership and leadership; policies and guidance; evidence and research".

    Our work is aligned with the WHO Global Programme of Work (GPW), with a central focus to drive impact in countries, to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being at all ages.


    The Strategic Objectives of the IVB Department include:
    Establishing global immunization agendas, strategies and policies to build and harness commitment to action. Promoting research and innovation to increase impact of vaccines, technologies and immunization practices. Advancing evidence-based introduction and access to vaccines and immunization innovations. Optimizing immunization delivery to ensure high-impact, sustainable and equitable programmes.

    Harnessing Vaccine Alliances and Partnerships, including collaborations with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and key WHO partners, towards cross-programme coordination and collaboration in pursuit of universal vaccine and health coverage.


    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

    • Working across the three levels of WHO, build effective partnerships and enhance relationships with key partners including Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, by: Providing strategic advisory and collaboration services to WHO colleagues for engagement with technical partners, including as related to partner governance processes.
    • Proposing and developing new approaches and strategies for implementation of the partnership engagement.
    • Supporting the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the priority partnership work through key performance indicators, reporting requirements, and mechanisms to optimize performance of Unit deliverables.
    • Gathering timely intelligence on partner priorities, policies, budgets, funding trends and opportunities.
    • Convening high level dialogues and/or briefings with key partners, contribute to the development of future collaborations.
    • Advising and supporting WHO leadership in meetings with partners.
    • Ensuring relevant standard operating procedures are properly adhered, developing new procedures as required.
    • Performing all other related duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Education


    Essential:

    An advanced university degree (Master's level or above) in public health, medicine, international relations, business administration, communications, social sciences, or related field relevant to the position.


    Desirable:
    Professional certification or other specific training in partnership.

    Experience


    Essential:

    • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the areas of management of partnership building, external relations, and/or health policy and strategy.
    • Proven experience in building and influencing complex multistakeholder partnerships, and in planning and coordinating multistakeholder convenings.
    • Considerable experience in writing and editing, particularly in the context of donor reporting/relations and in developing messaging for advocacy purposes.
    • Considerable experience working with and/or influencing funding systems, donor organization and decisionmakers.
    • Experience working with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and other significant immunization partner organizations.
    • Experience in grant management and administration processes.

    Desirable:

    • Experience in the UN system.

    • Ability to engage and communicate effectively and diplomatically with external partners including ministries of health, donor institutions, Civil Society, and other stakeholders.

    REMUNERATION
    WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars.

    The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 77,326 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 5780 per month for the duty station indicated above.

    Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
