    Your responsibilities

    As a Mechanical Technician, you will join the department. Your future team, the team, works in the .

    In the frame of the , you will work on the design, procurement, assembly, installation and commissioning of the mechanical components.

    Specifically, you will:

  • Follow-up the design including the update of 3D models and update/preparation of manufacturing drawings;
  • Participate in the procurement process of several sub-components, including quality assurance;
  • Participate in the commissioning of the equipment from a sub-component level to the full FRAS installation;
  • Assemble the different components, at our mechanical workshop and then in real conditions on a large-scale test setup.

    Skills and/or knowledge

  • Experience with CAD systems such as CATIA for the creation of 3D models/assemblies and 2D technical drawings;
  • Experience in assembling and testing of mechanical systems;
  • Good communication, well-organized with accountability;
  • Ability to work in team as well as independently;
  • Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

  • You are a national of a .
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical technician Design & assembly (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma .
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants with a Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree are not eligible.

    Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

    This position requires:

  • Stand-by duty, when required by the needs of the Organization.

  • A monthly stipend of 4569 Swiss Francs (net of tax) .

  • Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.
