With more than 50 years of experience in the domain of radioactive ion beam production and numerous international collaborations in this field, you can find an environment to accelerate your career.

At the ISOLDE experiment, the Frontend and Target are key devices because they are the first elements of the radioactive beam chain.

You will support the design and prototyping for the future generation of these Frontends and Target bases.

In this position, you will use your knowledge of mechanical design and modern modeling tools (CATIA/SmarTeam) as well as your manual ability for clean assembly and test prototypes.

Specifically, you will:
- propose improvements;
- present results to your colleagues and write test reports in order to reach the optimal solution, in particular for the reliability, the material choice, the quality, the safety, the costs and the schedule;
- work on the 3D conceptual design of prototypes (sub-parts of the next generation of Frontends / Target bases for ISOLDE);
- work on the 2D production plans according to the ISO rules;

  • Maintain contacts with CERN workshops and external suppliers;
  • Follow the production and the planning;
  • Be responsible for the quality control of the received pieces;
  • Perform Assembly, design review, modifications, basic machining tasks as well as tests and modifications.
