We are looking for a highly motivated, passionate researcher with a strong scientific background in chemistry or related life science disciplines, a curious mind-set, and cultural agility to invent innovative medicines and advance the frontiers of drug discovery.

The NIBR RNAi Initiative is seeking a passionate, creative PhD level scientist to oversee our RNA synthesis team in Basel.

You will work highly collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment at the interface between research and development to discover and develop novel siRNA therapies for high unmet medical needs.


Responsibilities:


  • Build and maintain a stateoftheart oligonucleotide synthesis facility, diligently managing capital expense and consumables budgets
  • Lead a team of scientists dedicated to oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, analytics and formulation from small to medium scale (nmol to mmol)
  • Together with synthetic chemists and the project teams, conceive, implement and explore innovative siRNA chemistries to address key scientific questions and ensure their smooth transition to development
  • Document and communicate results and scientific findings to internal and external audiences, in patent filings or scientific publications
  • Support and develop team members by sharing your knowhow and handson experience across your work environment

Minimum requirements
What you will bring to the role

  • A PhD degree with a focus on the synthetic chemistry of oligonucleotides
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge in oligonucleotide synthesis and downstream processing
  • A track record of people leadership and development skills
  • Ability to champion and advance creative concepts in a global team setting
  • Innovative and independent problemsolving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively, yet to prioritize and focus as needed
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
