Following the strategic objectives set by the IOC Director of Legal Affairs and acting in close cooperation with the IOC's Associate Director of Legal Affairs, the Legal Counsel will work autonomously on a broad range of contractual (including digital), Olympic Games-related and other legal matters within the IOC Legal Affairs Department.


Main responsibilities

Contractual/transactional matters

  • Negotiate and draft different types of agreements (e.g., procurement agreements, technology agreements, digital agreements, cooperation agreements with other entities within or outside the Olympic Movement).
  • Review different types of agreements and other legal documents to ensure compliance with IOC policies and to protect the longterm interests of the Olympic Movement.
  • Accompany IOC projects from their inception through delivery and performance evaluation working in close collaboration with the project teams.
  • Engage with IOC business teams to understand and fulfil their contractual needs.
  • Provide support to the implementation of the Contract Management system, and related rules and procedures.
  • Set up and/or update standard contractual templates, guidelines and processes in relation to the IOC's recurrent activities.
  • Secure digital and IT projects of the IOC from a legal/contractual standpoint.
  • Advise on all digital and IT aspects of institutional and Olympic Gamesrelated projects of the IOC.
  • The Legal Counsel may be requested to address other duties as assigned by the Associate Director and/or Director of Legal Affairs.

Our requirements

Technical, organisational and personal competences

  • Demonstrated ability to grasp legal issues quickly, strong analytical problemsolving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and provide practical and constructive legal advice in a timesensitive, dynamic and fastpaced complex environment
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and flexibility to manage multiple matters simultaneously
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills

Training and language skills

  • Master's degree in Law (LL.M), preferably from a university in a common law jurisdiction.
  • Swiss law degree is a plus
  • 57 years of professional experience, preferably in an international law firm and/or legal department of a multinational corporation (additional experience in the sports sector is a plus)
  • Solid background in contract law with proven skills in the field of digital
  • Excellent contract drafting, general writing and communication skills in English (the same in French is a plus)
  • Excellent command of the corporate tools and ability to follow the internal user rules (Outlook, etc.)
