About the Role


As Commercial and industrial P&C Pricing Actuary you will be involved in reviews of the models and rates used by our facultative underwriters to write industrial property and casualty business.

In this role you will give actuarial advice to fac underwriters worldwide on more complex and large risks or portfolios.


Your main tasks will be:


  • Work out costing models and parameters, like rates, trend factors, frequency/severity models or equivalent
  • Monitor accuracy of rating models on a portfolio level and prioritize required updates
  • Give actuarial and structuring advise for complicated facultative deals to underwriters worldwide
  • Bring parameter and model updates into the productive underwriting systems and do the necessary quality assurance checks.

About the Team
The actuarial services P&C team is part of the P&C center.


We are responsible for three areas:

  • We are the go-to team for actuarial advice and perform the risk assessment for complicated single risk deals worldwide or sensitive lines of business such as Medical Malpractice or sharing economy
  • We make sure the underwriters have good models to price their business. We lead rate reviews for property and casualty business on industry level and check rate reviews performed by other units
  • We lead from content perspective the development of the methods and tools used to price the single risk property and casualty business

About you

  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or equivalent quantitative/statistical fields and/or actuarial qualification
  • You have first experience (up to 3 years) in (re)insurance or in a quantitative role
  • Planning to become a qualified actuary is a plus
  • Proficient English is required, other languages are considered a plus
  • Open to work in an agile scrum setup
  • Translate the thoughts and ideas of nonactuarial experts such as risk engineers, product underwriters or wording specialists into models
  • Explain actuarial technics in simple words and train costing methods and tools to underwriters
  • Ease in expressing your actuarial ideas in languages such as R, Python, Power BI etc.
  • Strong teammate in a diverse team spread across geographies.
