The Women's Health Initiative is the first trusted global multisector platform for the health of women, building on a global movement on the undeniable evidence that investing in women's health is the best investment to make for societies and economies.

It presents a tremendous opportunity to mobilize multi-stakeholder commitments towards closing the women's health gap by 2050, including innovative financing, supporting women's health innovation, and amplifying a global agenda on the importance of healthy women to drive social and economic gains.

The Project Lead for Women's health will oversee a portfolio of work aimed at protecting, improving, and empowering women's and girl's health, that includes, and not limited to:
The Women's Health Gap Challenge Public-private coalition for investing in women's health Responsible and sustainable funding in women's health Cervical cancer country lighthouse model


The position offers room for entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work closely with private sector constituencies and would suit an individual with experience in coalition-building and policy developments focused on improving and protecting women's health.

Reporting Lines and Interactions

This position will report to the Head of Women's Health.

Shaping the Future of Health and Healthcare

(Head of the Centre on the Future of Health and Healthcare, Head of Industry, Partner Leads/ Project Leads, Fellows), other Platforms, the Program Development Team; and externally with a broad range of stakeholders including private companies in healthcare and other industries, governments, international organizations, civil society organizations, research institutions, academia, and expert communities.

Main responsibilities

  • Project design: Develop a cohesive strategy for Women's Health and generate strategic insights related to multistakeholder workstreams and initiatives on women's health. Some topics of relevance include financing in women's health, closing the women's health gap, sustainable and responsible funding, women's cancers
  • Project management: Keep project and initiatives on target, timeline, and budget through the effective management and leadership of teams, internal and external stakeholders, budgets, projects and processes, as well as through effective communication and reporting via relevant digital tools
  • External communications: work closely with the Public Engagement Teams to lead external communications activities related to primarily to Women's Health. This includes support in major announcements and initiatives, social media campaigns and other activities aimed at increasing visibility and impact.
  • Content curation: Contribute to thoughtleadership, lead on whitepapers and briefing papers on women's health, focusing particularly on the value proposition for business, and how to contribute to closing the women's health gap
  • Strong understanding of the women's health ecosystem
  • Strong project management skills, particularly communications (oral and written), presentations and data management skills
  • Ability to craft strategy and business value proposition for women's health
  • Delivery of agreed targets of the various workstreams within the project management portfolio
  • Delivery of successful convenings (e.g. facilitated workshops, sessions related to regional and global events, etc.) both inperson and digitally
  • Quality of interactions with internal and external stakeholders, including team members
  • Efficiency and effectiveness in use of knowledge tools and products
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and be a committed, collaborative, optimistic and solutionoriented team player
Preferred requirements and experience

  • Passion for driving progress and global cooperation in the women's health space
  • Advanced university degree (Masters or PhD) in a relevant field (public health, health economics, international development, public policy or social sciences)
