Über Melanie Devjayanth:
My name is Melanie Devjayanth, and I am a 22-year-old proficient in english, who recently relocated from Canada to my birth country, Switzerland. Let me introduce myself and share my journey, experiences, and aspirations.
Educational Background: I hold a Bachelor's degree in Science with a double major in Medical Science and Biology, earning an honors distinction. By exploring through the many different realms of Science, I have developed a fascination for microbiology and genetics.
Dedication and Self-Learning: My quest for knowledge has no limits, as I recently taught myself Python and became proficient in the Biopython library. My goal was to master handling and manipulating extensive datasets, a skill I believe is indispensable in today's scientific landscape. This proficiency is paramount because science relies heavily on information technology for conducting statistical analyses and advancing our comprehension of the world.
Proud Achievements: One of my most cherished accomplishments was presenting a collaborative science project on “The Effects of Microgravity on the Virulence of Kocuria rhizophila Bacteria in Caenorhabditis elegans” at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. This project allowed me to combine my passion for microbiology with the fascinating realm of space.
Beyond Science: While my heart belongs in the lab, I have diverse interests that shape my identity. I am an avid pianist and enjoy physical activity such as going to the gym or on hikes. I find solace and inspiration in the tranquility of nature and the harmony of music. Furthermore, giving back to the community has always been a priority. I dedicated my time to volunteering in a hospital. Additionally, actively participated in the Nanaimo Youth Advisory Council, where I advocated to combat the pressing issue of youth poverty to provincial politicians. These experiences have shaped who I am and allowed me to strengthen my commitment to social impact and community well-being
I recently made the decision to move to Switzerland to broaden my horizons and explore the world. Travel has always been a passion of mine, and I believe that immersing myself in different cultures and new environments is a great way to grow personally and professionally. As I embark on this new chapter in my life, I am eager to find a career opportunity that allows me to not only apply my scientific expertise but also to contribute to the community. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I am eager to connect with potential employers who share my enthusiasm for science, community, and exploration.
