Antonino Ferraro

I have a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Bologna. After graduation, I remained at the university to work on two scholarship projects with the aim of using a biopolymer for the production of nanoparticles useful for nanomedicine applications. After the scholarship I started working as a product developer and particle engineer with the goal of developing biopolymeric microparticles for various applications.

I started to work with the spray drier technic on a laboratory scale and after the successfully development of the product I started to follow the production scale-up on a pilot plant, managing the production and the relative QC.

Until last month, I worked as an R&D Specialist at ProfiMed Srl, a European leader in dental floss production for third parties. My role involved development of new products from internal sample production to industrialization, managing external collaborations, and exploring new technologies. Currently, I am not employed, I decided to move in Basel at the begin of this month to get closer to my family and I really would like to exploit this moment to seek new opportunities for my professional career.

Developed proficiency in both basic and advanced analytical techniques, such as SEM, Mastersizer, FTIR and Raman Spectroscopy, HPLC, UV-Vis, TLC, DSC, TGA, and GPC. Gained a thorough knowledge of various industrial processes, including spray-drying, fluid bed and mixing technologies. Extensive experience with organic synthesis and purification techniques. Achieved a strong expertise in polymer and adhesive science, cosmetic raw materials and formulation. Good team working and problem-solving skills, proficient in using Microsoft Office for creation of reports, presentations, and data processing.
