Over the last 5 years, the 600-staff NRC has published around 1000 scientific publications in peer review journals and files about 80 patents every year. The NRC also has around 100 research collaborations with universities or research institutes around the world. The NRC devotes itself to 5 main research programs: food safety and integrity, first 1000 days and healthy kids, healthy ageing, healthy pleasure and sustainable nutrition. The NRC plays an important role in providing the science behind healthier products, such as the reformulation of products with lower levels of sugar, salt and fat, and an increase in vitamins, minerals and fibre. Lausanne is home to the 3 strongholds of Nestlé’s fundamental research: the Nestlé Research Center (NRC), the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS) and the Nestlé Clinical Development Unit (CDU). They all investigate the complex interactions between nutrition, health and wellness.
To complete our Consumer Science and Applied Nutrition department, we are looking for a Senior Food Oral Processing Specialist.
You will develop Food Oral Processing science to stay at the fore-front of knowledge and the latest developments, guide and translate the application of this knowledge, inspire Nestlé’s NHW ambition and enable a nutritional and/or health impact of Nestlé’s products.
Ensure new scientific and technical knowledge is developed and disseminated throughout NRC and R&D (e.g. through e-learnings, trainings, workshops, events, meetings)
Keep up to date with the latest developments in academia and industry
Be the contact point within Nestlé on all issues related to the Nestlé Science & Technology area owned by the community
Collaborate actively with relevant networks / communities and Nestlé Product Technology Centres to provide expertise and ensure leverage of knowledge across the organization
Liaise closely with external partners to build and insource knowledge and technologies. Develop partnerships with key academic personnel
Define and disseminate guidelines & provide training to R&D and AGs. Contribute to the relevant knowledge aptitude at R&D
Support innovation / renovation projects by providing expertise, recommendations and guidance to business (SBUs/GMBs), NPTCs, Markets)
Actively participate in expert network to promote cross-fertilization between different sites (R&D, Org. Units)
Education and experience
Recognized expertise / Track Record in a field that falls within the Science & Technology area of Food Oral Processing
Experience in managing and driving complex projects
Experience in translating academic experience into business context.
Experience in food industry organization is an asset.
Proven of experience in the S&T area internally or externally (e.g. academic positions), with some experience and/or exposure in R&D
Experience in converting existing theories or experimental setups across a different scientific field
Experience in presenting research output and leading scientific writing in the form of publications or reports
Fluent in English, French is a plus
