by agreement.

The University Hospital for Radio-Oncology, together with its alliance partners, is one of the largest providers of radiotherapy in Switzerland and a central cross-sectional service provider of the University Cancer Center Inselspital UCI.

In addition to highly specialised services, the clinic covers a wide range of basic radio-oncology care.

The clinic runs comprehensive research programs in the fields of medical physics, innovation and technology, radiobiology, clinical research and data science.

To strengthen the portfolio of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science, a new professorship for "AI and Data Science in Radiation Oncology" is being created in close collaboration with the ARTORG Center for Biomedical Engineering Research and the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine CAIM.

Applicants should have a PhD in computer science, computational science or other related fields, with at least 5 years of experience as a postdoctoral researcher (Advanced PostDoc, or Senior Researcher level).

Furthermore, you should have an independent research profile, including the establishment of an internationally competitive research group and the competitive acquisition of external funding.

The professorship is expected to be highly active in promoting young researchers and teaching. In addition to scientific excellence, strong communication skills are indispensable for the successful accomplishment of the range of tasks. The position is limited to 4 years. An evaluation will then be carried out and there may be an option for an extension.

The University of Bern aims to increase the proportion of women in professorships and therefore strongly encourages female applicants to apply.
