After completion of the construction phase, our Lengnau site will offer highly flexible biomanufacturing technologies, from process development to large-scale production, including stainless steel equipment, in order to successfully meet the needs of our customers.


DSP Labs SME (M/F/d)

In this position, you will support the daily work of the DSP BioProcess Team


Your Responsibilities:

General responsibilities:


  • Contributes to the transfer of process development knowhow and methodologies from existing to new BPS sites, here LGN.
  • Acquires and transmits current internal standard processes and tools for project execution.
  • Acts as facilitator to shape and align the Lengnau process development organization according to the global BPS guidelines.
  • Contributes to planning and execution of capital projects, representing the end users

DSP responsibilities:


  • Act as an Expert (SME) on multiple and / or complex programs having project oversight and indirect report management responsibility.
  • Responsible for leading and supporting Downstream Process (DSP) subprojects such as Process development & Improvement, Technology Transfer, Implementation and Optimization of Down-Scale Models for the purification of recombinant proteins.
  • Plan project scope, timing and resource requirements.
  • Represent the team in crossfunctional working teams and in initiatives improvements.
  • Design experimental plan based on defined deliverables, planning the activities to meet the project timelines by working closely with the project managers.
  • Assist the Support Scientist in maintaining lab supplies (equipment, logbooks, inventory,.) in collaboration with local and global partners.
  • Author, review and approve reports, study plans, protocols, SOP's, work instructions, etc.
  • Technical discussions with clients and work on technical solutions that meet clients needs and expectations.
  • Support the use of an Electronic Lab Notebook.
  • Train new employees in the area of responsibility.

Your profile:

  • MSc, PhD or Diploma in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related field (Uni, ETH or FH). Practical work experience in a laboratory environment is needed.
  • 5+ years of industry experience related to Biologics manufacturing, downstream development and process engineering.
  • Expertise in recombinant protein purification is needed: knowledge of antibody purification analysis is an asset
  • Experience with handling a chromatography system as Äkta Pure, Avant is preferred.
  • Knowledge of CDMO activities is an asset.
  • Independent work in compliance with internal work regulations and accurate documentation.
  • Interest in Design of experiments is a plus.
  • Customer centric thinking and team spirit.
  • Result driven and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of German is a plus.
  • Very good IT skills (Microsoft Office products), experience with Electronic Lab Notebook is a plus.
  • Willingness to work sporadic weekends.
