This position is located in the Medical Insurance Section, Human Resources Management Service, Division of Administration, United Nations Office at Geneva.


Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Benefits Officer, the incumbent:

  • Supervises and coordinates the processing of claims received by Group A of the Reimbursement Unit;
  • Analyses and evaluates the amounts due in accordance with the regulatory provisions for cases of hospitalization and checks cases involving amounts in excess of CHF 5,000;
  • Assists the Unit supervisor in organizing work and in training other employees to master the computerized reimbursement system; provides guidance and expert advice on the technical aspects of the job;
  • Checks lists of amounts reimbursed; verifies payments and corrects mistakes;
  • Coordinates updates to banking information of insured members;
  • Provides information about claims to insured members;
  • Informs interested personnel of the special insurance requirements and procedures to be followed;
  • Corresponds with insured members as directed by the Chief;
  • Acts as a liaison between information technology developers and reimbursement officers to ensure that IT tool requirements and limitations are properly understood;
  • Prepares system test cases and collects information from reimbursement officers to submit to IT developers;
  • Completes other tasks that may be assigned by his or her supervisor.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent business studies.

Work Experience
A Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the field of reimbursement is required.


Out of these seven years of experience, at least four (4) years of experience within the UN Common System or a similar international organisation is desirable.

Experience with computer software is desirable.

Extensive experience in system and hardware testing is desirable.

Experience in creating test cases to identify errors and failures is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English and French is required.
