The Research Unit Biodiversity and Conservation Biology studies the diversity of life, from genetic diversity to species and habitat diversity, as well as their interactions.

Starting

March 1, 2023, or by agreement the research group Ecological Genetics offers a

one-year position for a

Laboratory technician in Soil Ecology 80-100% (f/m/d)

You will participate in a research project focusing on soil biodiversity.

You will prepare the soil sampling and coordinate the logistics for sampling and sample transfer by communicating with the field teams.

You will independently do laboratory work including soil sample preparation, DNA-extraction, -quantification and -amplification for eDNA metabarcoding, as well as soil abiotic properties measurements.

You will collect, document, and manage the data and metadata and help with data processing.


You hold a Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ) as a Biology Laboratory Technician or a Master's degree in biology, environmental, natural or soil sciences with a background in microbiology and/or ecology.

You have experience with molecular biology methods and are confident with general biological and biogeochemical laboratory procedures. You are comfortable with curating and managing datasets. You have excellent communication and organisation skills and are fluent in German and understand well English. Working independently, flexible and accurately is one of your strengths, as is teamwork.
