Description of the organisation
The Synergy Village association runs a large property in Feldbach ZH at the Lake of Zurich. The former farm has been
transformed into a meeting place for local and international visitors. In the beautiful surroundings, visitors can
explore the magical grotto with waterfall, idyllic gardens with secluded lounges and the lookout at the top of the
property. Synergy Village runs a café, a guesthouse, an event venue and organizes its own cultural public events. The
property of Synergy Village also includes the "KREIS-Haus" - an almost self-sufficient tiny house that is operated as a
field lab in collaboration with the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. For the operation and maintenance of the
property, Synergy Village works with international volunteers and the local association members. Synergy Village
aims to be a "Place of Inspiration" where people can be creative, try new things and learn from each other. By doing
so, Synergy Village follows the principles of a future-oriented and sustainable way of working and living.

Information about the EVS Placement
Duration (in months): 9 to 12 months
Start Date Between March and May 2024
Activity description
The volunteer supports in all areas of the daily operations, has the chance the learn new skills and develop his/her
own ideas. Typical tasks include:

• Guesthouse: guest check-in, prepare rooms, laundry, cleaning, reception
• Event venue: preparations and running events
• Accommodate visitors in the café
• Gardening (vegetables and flowers), landscape gardening
• Creative and decoration work, help with renovations
• Outdoor maintenance, depending on season
• Cooking and baking

Learning outcomes for the volunteers:

• Participate in diverse activities of a non-profit organization
• Improve English and German
• Discover the Swiss culture and habits
• Be in contact with international guests and volunteers (intercultural skills)
• Possibility to bring own ideas, be creative and develop own project

Volunteer's profile

• Age: 20 – 30 years
• Language: good English, basic German is a plus
• Citizen of Schengen country
• Interest in manual work outside
• Enjoy working with people
• Willing to learn and try new things

Practical arrangements

• This is a full-time position with approx. 32 to 35 working hours per week
• Accommodation in a shared room for 2 volunteers (max 3), in Synergy Village. You will be living and
  working in the same place.
• The food is vegetarian
• Pets: we have 3 friendly cats

Funding
Movetia's funding for the EVS programme covers:

• Board, lodging, health insurance
• International travel costs (CHF 400.-)
• Pocket money (CHF 242.- per month)
• Language course (CHF 250.-)
• EVS Trainings
