The Hitachi Energy Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team collaborates with our global leadership team to identify, manage, and close investment opportunities to grow and improve the performance of our business.

The team uses strategic, financial, investment, and operational frameworks and analyses to execute acquisitions, joint ventures, divestments, and partnerships involving equity participation.

As M&A Associate, you make an impact in the identification, definition, and implementation of Hitachi Energy strategic inorganic initiatives, globally.


Your responsibilities- You lead the creation of financial models and perform valuation analysis

  • You impact through the lifecycle of merger, acquisition, divestiture, and joint venture transactions
  • You partner with both internal (business, functional) and external (advisors, consultants) project participants
  • You develop business plan, strategic and financial analysis and synergies determination
  • You master legal contract schedules
  • You guide due diligence workstream leaders and shape project integration planning for success
  • You spot new opportunities (e.g., inbound teasers) for impact and fit
  • You drive processes, contractual documentation templates and tools for best M&A practices
  • You concisely communicate strategic storylines in structured presentations and reports
  • You live core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
    Your background 35 years' total experience, including 2+ years M&A exposure, preferably in transaction advisory or corporate development
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting or finance
  • Solid understanding of key financial principles / metrics and operational factors
  • Demonstrated valuation (e.g., discounted cash flow) and solid modeling skills (strong Excel acumen)
  • Able to conduct company / industry research with creative resourcefulness (able to find data from conventional and unconventional public and subscription sources)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex concepts concisely both written (PowerPoint) and spoken
  • Superior attention to detail and analytical rigor
  • Organized and processoriented thinker, capable to prioritize tasks and projects
  • Small, highperformance team with high visibility and limited resources; ability to learn quickly is key
  • Global exposure, requiring understanding of diverse cultures and availability to travel internationally (approx. 20%)
  • Adherence to the highest professional standards in safety, security, integrity and confidentiality
  • Fluency in English is required, both written and spoken; other languages are considered a plus
