Multi-activity counsellors are responsible for the daily supervision of a small group of children at our outdoor education programmes. Children are supervised throughout the day.

Multi-activity counsellors will be expected to support and assist specialist sport and activity instructors as well as lead certain activity sessions, for which basic training will be given.

Counsellors promote teamwork within their group as well as an appreciation of the mountain environment and encourage every child to improve their technique and develop their skills.

Counsellors are expected to participate in a full programme of evening activities and occasionally escort children from and to airports and train stations.


Requirements:


  • Fluent in English
  • First aid and CPR qualification issued by a recognised body
  • Experience participating in at least one sport or outdoor activity, either as an individual or as part of a team
  • Experience supervising and motivating children, preferably in a camp environment
  • Organised, creative, adaptable, trustworthy, patient and presentable

Duties and responsibilities:


  • Participate in and contribute to the compulsory training and assessment period
  • Take responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing of a group of children during the daily multiactivity or camp programme
  • Prepare for and participate in the daily programme of sports and outdoor activities, assisting specialist instructors when required and leading other activities
  • Assist in the organisation of and participate fully in an evening activity programme, as required
  • Supervise the children during all meal times
  • Assist with wakeup, lightsout and other supervisory duties, as required
  • Escort children from/to their arrival/departure at airports and train stations, as required
  • Accompany children on excursions and participate in visits to places of interest, as required
  • Be a role model to the children, acting responsibly and in a caring manner at all times
  • Show understanding of and appreciation for diverse cultural backgrounds within the children, school chaperones and Viamonde staff
