The Centre engages leaders from the public and private sectors to deliver new insights and multistakeholder collaborations at the global, regional and national levels.

    Why we are Recruiting

    The Centre for Energy and Materials engages multiple public, private and civil society stakeholders through various channels including communications and events. We are hiring a Specialist, Programming and Communications to support the Centre for Energy and Materials in developing and delivering communications strategies, public engagement, marketing materials, and event operations.

    Reporting Lines & Interactions

    The Specialist, Programming and Communications reports to the Lead, Programming and Communications at the Centre for Energy and Materials. S/he will work closely with the Centre leadership team and project teams to deliver communications products, drive Centre event development, and support project event operations. S/he will also work closely with other teams across the Forum including Programming and Global Communications teams and is expected to build strong working relationships with colleagues across the organisation (e.g. Event Operations, Social Media, Media, Marketing).

    Breakdown of main responsibilities:

    The Specialist will support Centre for Energy and Materials in its communications and programming efforts. In particular:

  • Support the design and delivery of the Centre's overall communications planning and strategies, in close collaboration with Centre program teams, Communications Lead, and Forum Global Communications team
  • Enhance and strategize Centre's presence on digital media channels, through managing Centre's social media account and collaborating with Global Communications team to develop digital media products (e.g. videos, blogs, social media posts)
  • Strategize and coordinate media engagement for Centre spokespeople and develop supporting materials for media intervention
  • Develop and help disseminate external-facing Centre communications and marketing products such as Centre website, newsletters, project pagers, and marketing decks
  • Support the communications and dissemination planning of Centre flagship reports (e.g. ) to enhance Centre content impact and showcase thought leadership
  • Support project teams in designing and delivering their communications strategies to elevate visibility and impact
  • Develop and help disseminate internal communication materials (e.g., internal WeLink site, Open Houses).
  • Support the program curation and manage event operations and logistics for Centre sessions at Forum institutional events (e.g. Annual Meeting of New Champions, Sustainable Development Impact Meeting)
  • Support the creation of input and output materials for institutional and Centre events (e.g. event two-pagers, presentations, event summaries)
  • Support the event operations and coordination of flagship Centre events in key regions, working closely with Centre project teams, regional leads, and Programming Lead
  • Provide event operations and coordination support to Centre project teams in developing in-person roundtables and occasionally virtual workshops
  • Support other ad-hoc tasks on operations and communications
  • Preferred requirements and experience

  • University degree (Bachelor's or higher) in communications, journalism, marketing, energy policies, sustainable energy, environment, international relations, business management, or other relevant fields
  • 3+ years of experience in communications, journalism, media, public engagement, event management in a relevant business or not-for-profit organization
  • Background or demonstrated interest in energy transition, industrial transformation, renewable energy, energy efficiency is an a strong asset
  • Proven track record of developing communications planning and strategy of an organization and the delivery of communications products
  • Ability to quickly synthesize, develop and effectively communicate perspectives on strategic issues in a succinct way, tailored to the audience
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools and processes, media landscape and social media platforms
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with high attention to detail
  • Highly collaborative team player with demonstrated abilities to thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural work setting, strong flexibility, adaptability, and ability to deliver under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written language skills in English; other languages are an asset
