Tasks

  • In collaboration with the postdoctoral fellow coordinating the project, you will actively review the literature on framing and volunteering, as well as conceptualize, collect and analyze qualitative data
  • You will conduct your doctoral work within the context of the project
  • You will collaborate closely with nonprofit organizations supporting refugees in Germanspeaking Switzerland, as well as with a team of internationally renowned scholars
  • You will assist the team in rendering the project relevant for project partners and beyond
  • You will contribute to joint conference submissions, research publications and support project coordination (reports, organization of workshops and annual meeting with project partners and collaborating organizations)

Requirements:


  • You hold a master's degree in organization or management studies (possibly also in a related discipline, such as sociology, communication or political science, pertinent to the research project)
  • You have a solid command of and interest in qualitative empirical research methods; an experience in media analysis is a plus
  • You are motivated to collaborate with nonprofit organizations supporting refugees in Switzerland and to explore the media framing of refugees
  • You have the ability to work independently, meet demanding deadlines, as well as cooperate with diverse project members
  • You have excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • German as mother tongue (or an equivalent level) and very good English skills are a prerequisite
