For the Editorial Development unit within the "Academic & Research" arm of Karger Publishers, we are looking for a motivated person to join our organization as a


Project Manager %):


Reporting to the Head of Editorial Development, you will be working independently within an agreed strategic framework to drive and manage innovative projects and products in collaboration with Publication Managers to support innovation in Editorial Development.


This multifaceted role includes:


  • Supporting the drive for new needsdriven products and services in Editorial Development, including in nonpublication products and concerning all stages of the research cycle
  • Independently managing existing innovative products and projects including liaising with internal stakeholders, trouble shooting, and monitoring progress towards defined targets in collaboration with Publication Managers
  • Drafting reports and strategic plans regarding innovation in Editorial Development for key decisionmakers including the Academic & Research Circle
  • Performing market analyses assessing opportunities, challenges, and competitors in collaboration with the Publishing Specialist
  • Market & Publishing Analytics, Publication Managers, Strategy, Innovation and Ventures unit, Community Relations, Business Insights
  • Representing and promoting innovative products and Karger to external stakeholders
  • Setting up and fostering communities and networks of industry experts, related to innovative products managed, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Point person for project management in Editorial Development within the Unit and for other Karger departments, including participation to internal Taskforces, if appropriate

Qualification and experience required:


  • University degree (biomedical sciences preferred)
  • Previous experience in scientific publishing (in editorial or product management roles strongly preferred)
  • Similar experience with earlystage innovative product development preferred
  • Previous experience working in a matrix across several departments
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English (German a plus)
  • A collaborative, proactive, and problemsolving mindset
  • Highly organized, outstanding attention to detail and ability to work independently
