An exciting opportunity has arisen for an attorney to join the Legal Department in Geneva at a Vice President/Associate level.


Our Team
The Legal Department's mission is to provide legal & regulatory support to the Private Banking Business. In Geneva, the Legal Department employs 9 professionals.


Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing legal assistance to the Business, including relationship managers, investment specialists, account documentation specialists;
  • Advise on general private banking and product related matters, in particular review, draft and negotiate contractual documentation, e.g. client documentation;
  • Advise the Business Management for new business initiatives and implementation of new legal and regulatory requirements in relation to private banking and product related matters;
  • Participate in various risk/control initiatives that affect the Business;
  • Work closely with the Business and control function s to identify changing laws and regulations in relation to private banking and product related matters and coordinate effective, fluid and timely implementation of policy, process and procedural changes to ensure compliance therewith;
  • Work on various global private banking and product related projects covering Switzerland in liaison with colleagues in other offices, in particular in Europe, Asia and the US;
  • Summarize and report on new legal requirements and changes to existing Swiss laws and regulations in relation to private banking and product related matters ;
  • Provide daytoday ad hoc legal advice and guidance in relation to clients' questions and issues in relation to private banking and product related matters;
  • Attend internal and external meetings and conferences;
  • Instruct and liaise with external counsel, as required, including review and analyse legal opinions as well as litigation and criminal/regulatory proceedings;
  • In the context of corporate governance requirements, attend various committee meetings.

Qualifications

Requirements:


  • Professional postqualifying experience of at least 3/5 years gained in the financial services industry (toptier law firm or in house) ;

Essential skills

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and deliver highquality results in a timely manner; efficient problem solver;
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently;
  • Excellent analytical, judgment and decision making skills;
  • Excellent drafting skills;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities;
  • Fluent in French and English, other languages, e.g. German, being an asset.
