Beschreibung

Collège du Léman is one of Switzerland's most prestigious international day and boarding schools, located on the edge of Lake Geneva in view of the Swiss Alps.

The school helps students to find their place in the world by inspiring individual growth, academic excellence, and global citizenship.

It is a truly international community with more than 150 different nationalities amongst the 1800 day and 240 boarding students.

They come together on a green, village-like campus covering 8 hectares.

Main purpose of the role

As a Part-time Houseparent, you will join a culturally diverse team of staff and students coming from a range of different countries.

You will work hard in a unique and privileged scenario to create a supportive and nurturing environment for our boarders.

More than caregivers, you are a mentor, advisor and friend, available 24 hours a day to meet any needs, be they emotional, academic or practical.

You like and understand children and teenagers and you are able to use common sense to resolve any situation. The role requires flexibility and excellent communication with the boarding staff, the students and the parents.

Key responsibilities

  • To monitor boarding students' personal, academic progress, program of activities, and achievements.
  • To provide a high quality of pastoral care, "in loco parentis" (listening, caring, followup), in coordination with the School Counselling department and school nurses when appropriate.
  • Encourage students to always behave appropriately as civilised members of a boarding community, where differences are celebrated and respected by all.
  • To provide a good follow up to each single student and keep the Boarding team informed as well as parents.
  • To implement the Boarding House Code of Conduct and House rules, ensuring that alongside sanctions, rewards are also provided for the deserving boarders.
  • Contributing to the activity program

Skills and competencies
You are an energetic, enthusiastic, team player, but also resistant to pressure and well organised. You have a good sense of humour and believe in positive and respectful relationships. You have excellent interpersonal skills, especially with students. Your level of English is excellent. At least one successful experience in working with children and young people is a prerequisite.
You will be exhausted at the end of the day, but the rewards will be extraordinary

Terms and conditions
Part time House Parents will be required to work throughout the term, one day per week from 3 p.m. until 8.30 a.m. the next morning and one weekend once every two weeks from Friday 3 p.m. until Monday 8.30 a.m. Accommodation and meals in a Boarding House will be provided when on duty.

It is important that the post holder is always aware of Child Protection guidelines and observes a professional distance from students whilst still developing effective working and caring relationships.

You understand and embrace the importance of diversity and inclusion and stand against discrimination in any form. Background investigations and reference checks for the past ten years will be conducted during the selection process.
