    In line with Holcim's Group Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Strategy- Ambition "0", the Group Head of HSE Engineering develops the strategy at a Group level and leads the global implementation Engineering Safety in line with the agreed strategy. The Group Head of HSE Engineering is accountable for the initiatives and implementation of risk reduction programs such as Critical Control Management and development and delivery of a new Process Safety Management framework, digital App along with related standards, tools and supporting material and the timely and effective roll out and implementation and governance at the country level along with ongoing support and continuous improvement.

    MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be an active and contributing member of the Group HSE Leadership team and other functional teams such as Cement Excellence Manufacturing, Geocycle and AGG/RMX Performance.
  • Strategize, plan and execute Critical Control Management program, ensuring the effectiveness of the program through a strict governance process
  • Monitor and manage Critical Control Management program results ensuring, performance outcomes are assimilated, and related KPIs are scrutinized for follow up and continuous improvement
  • Take initiatives and lead Group-wide initiatives targeting the elimination of fatalities and reduction of serious injuries
  • Lead and manage the Process Safety Management (PSM) program at the Group level, integrating the ACert (Alternative Fuel Certification) program, and exiting Group PSM program into one single framework of program that is fit for all business segments
  • Lead, liaise with other functions, operations and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to leverage all existing initiatives into a compelling, effective and simplified format
  • Partner with process safety experts internal and external to further develop the PSM program and continuously improve the program and toolkits
  • Lead, develop and implement digital PSM app to carry out PSM annual assessments, pre-qualification of assets & materials and serve as single point of data depository
  • Lead, manage and further develop the current PSM program focused on traditional fuels, alternative fuels and raw material, pressure systems, and fire safety management
  • Review critical incidents and investigate fatalities; incorporate any lesson learnt in Critical Control Management and Process Safety Management programs
  • Oversee all the Capital projects over 20MCHF for engineering safety, construction safety and safety in design. This includes new projects associated with decarbonisation.
  • Manage all major CAPEX related projects constructions safety, training and induction of workforce including contractors and subcontractors.
  • Be a Senior Advisor to the Group Head of HSE and associated support functions by building and fostering a deep understanding of the operational hazards & risks in line with PSM concepts, industry standards and best practices focused on PSM
  • Monitor, audit and improve PSM and related processes and activities to ensure strict governance, the effectiveness of the program and implementation, and provide a regular update to the Group HSE leadership team
  • Roll out tools, training and simplify risk management process to ensure that all workers understand the hazards associated with their task and workplace and can effectively utilize PSM Controls to reduce the risk at their tasks/workplace
  • Manage departmental budget for development of digital applications, third party services and training initiatives.
  • Direct management 3 FTEs and functionally manage all the country Head of HSE
  • PROFILE REQUIRED

    Level of education/qualifications normally required:

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Postgraduate qualification desirable
  • Specific work experience:

  • 15 plus years operational experience in either HSE or in Operational roles
  • At least 5 years in Construction Materials
  • Large and complex transformational change management project delivery
  • Senior (Country level) leadership experience desirable
  • International experience is an advantage
