Beschreibung

The PhD Program _Global Studies_, part of the Graduate School of the Arts and Humanities (GSAH) of the Walter Benjamin Kolleg, is aimed at doctoral students whose projects deal with current and historical processes of interconnection of human spheres of life across large geographical distances and different cultural contexts in an interdisciplinary manner.


We are currently seeking a motivated doctoral student to join our team as a program assistant for the doctoral program _Global Studies_, starting on 1 April 2024 (or later until 1 May).

Tasks


As a program assistant, you will play a vital role in providing administrative support and coordination to the program coordinator, Prof.

Dr. Elize Mazadiego.


Your responsibilities will include:
- independently and proaactively coordinate, plan, organize, promote, and support the activities of the doctoral program according to the curriculum (e.g., workshops, retreats) in collaboration with the program's head and the GSAH
- contribute to the development of conceptual proposals for strategic and operational management
- manage student records according to the curriculum (KSL) and prepare individual Diploma Supplements upon completion
- supporting outreach activities of the doctoral program and its events
- provide support and guidance to doctoral students within the framework of the doctoral program


Requirements:

- preferrably PhD enrollment at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Bern
- prior experience in academic administration or program coordination is desirable
- strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management
- ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- excellent proficiency in both German and English
