    As the Head of Sales you will lead our sales function with the aim of not only achieving but exceeding our ambitious sales targets as well as positioning the Viatris sales organisation for success in our future innovative product launches. This leadership role is pivotal in shaping the future of our organisation, driving sales of our existing brands as well as the adoption of innovative therapies, and steering the company towards a high-performance culture. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a proven track record in the pharmaceutical sector (GP & Speciality), possessing a deep understanding of the Swiss healthcare landscape and market trends.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategically develop and lead the sales organization towards becoming a high-performing team, capable of navigating the complexities of the pharmaceutical market with agility and efficiency.
  • Drive the evolution of sales strategies, skills, and metrics to achieve targets on existing brands and successfully launch innovative therapies, ensuring the team is equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and tools.
  • Initiate programs aimed at changing existing customer behavior to adopt new, evidence-based therapies that improve patient outcomes.
  • Coach and develop the sales team through regular feedback, performance management, and professional development opportunities, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, industry experts, and regulatory bodies, to ensure the successful market penetration and growth of our product portfolio.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align sales strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance metrics, adapting strategies as needed to meet changing market demands and business goals. Work close with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive product launch strategies, including market segmentation, positioning, messaging, and go-to-market plans. This involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including marketing, medical affairs, regulatory affairs, and supply chain, to ensure a successful launch.
  • Proficiency in conducting market research to identify unmet clinical needs, assess market demand, and understand competitive landscape.
  • Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, including significant leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated success in launching new products and changing healthcare professional behaviors in favor of innovative therapies.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams and individuals.
  • Experience in managing key accounts and building strong relationships with key stakeholders such as healthcare providers, hospitals, clinics, and group purchasing organizations. Experience in developing and executing strategic account plans to drive revenue growth is essential.
  • Proven experience in launching new pharmaceutical products and executing successful product launch strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey complex clinical information to healthcare professionals and key decision-makers.
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in German, French and English.
