The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the international organization for public-private cooperation.

The Forum engages the foremost political, business, cultural and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.


The Global Communications Group is the central Forum team dedicated to communications with the public, media, stakeholders and staff in relation to the Forum's mission.

Through multiple channels, the Group is responsible for communicating the work of the Forum and its constituents, reaching, growing, engaging and inspiring diverse and interested audiences.

Why we are recruiting

The Group is expanding and consolidating its strategy.

It is composed of four key functions:
Communication Strategy and Communications, Public Engagement, Media Engagement, and Stakeholder and Staff Engagement.

The Head of Public Engagement will lead the unit within the team responsible for conceptualizing, producing and disseminating all public engagement content across the Forum's owned channels, in alignment with the overall Group strategy.

Reporting Lines & Interactions


The role will report to the Managing Director responsible for the Global Communications Group and lead a team of managers and individual contributors in the Public Engagement Content unit of the Group.

The role will be a member of the Global Communication Group's Leadership Team.

Internally, the role will liaise with colleagues across the Global Communications Group, especially the Communication Strategy and Coordination unit, as well as the wider Forum as required.

Externally, the role will engage with key suppliers, advisors or consultants.


Key responsibilities- Convert the Group's overall communication strategy into compelling public engagement content, drawing from the work and communities of the Forum's Centres and connecting to an editorial calendar as well as current affairs and news relevance.- Lead the teams responsible for the creation, design, production, delivery and dissemination of written, video, audio and live public engagement content, ensuring it is consistent in tone, style, and messaging across all channels, in line with the Group's overall communication strategy.- Lead the crafting and production of original, thought-provoking and innovative content across all formats, balancing volume and quality and ensuring the Forum's impact work features significantly and creatively in the output.- Implement consistent editorial and design standards, followed by internal and supplier teams- Ensure cost-effective production and efficient and professional management of suppliers.- Identify and remain at the forefront of the latest communication trends and formats as well as emerging trends relating to the breadth of topics covered by the Forum's work, informing the Forum's public engagement content and formats accordingly.- Manage and lead a team of communication leaders and professionals, acting as a role model for the team, providing leadership and supporting team members to grow and excel.- Serve as a crucial member of the Global Communications Group Leadership Team, developing trusted internal relationships across the team and the organization- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key external stakeholders, including advisors, suppliers, and consultants.- Successful creation, development and dissemination of all public engagement content, reaching wide and relevant audiences through compelling formats, in line with the Group strategy and the Forum's mission and values.- Across all formats of public engagement, ensuring the right balance between volume, quality and relevance to the overall communication strategy- Seamless planning and project management and strong financial and human resource management- Successful implementation of editorial standards and best practices that increase efficiency, productivity, and quality of written, dynamic and live content output.- Successful delivery of the Forum Centres' impact communications, inclusive of partner and constituent related content- Successful delivery of the Forum's institutional events impact communications.- Strong understanding of the Forum's mission and impact.

- Ongoing learning of the communication landscape- Successfully lead a team of communication leaders and professionals, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, trust and institutional stewardship- Represent effectively the Forum externally, in interactions with external constituents, as well as at institutional events


Required qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in communications, journalism, international relations, political science or other relevant areas. 18+ years of relevant work experience in modern, multichannel journalism and communications for major global organizations across business, international organizations or nonprofit sectors.
