NEXUS serves as the platform that enables and accelerates your biomedical research endeavours. Since 2015, we have been supporting and facilitating biomedical research and development projects at ETH Zurich and in collaboration with its partners.

We provide customized analyses tailored to your specific project requirements. Additionally, we create and maintain exceptional pipelines utilizing existing tools or developing new ones as necessary. Our primary focus is ensuring the security, safety, auditability, and accessibility of your biomedical data and samples.

Our services encompass designing, preparing, and conducting laboratory experiments. We offer automation, editing, characterization, and purification techniques to aid in your research. Your results are analyzed using appropriate statistical tests and presented through effective visualization.

NEXUS is a leading provider of innovative personalized health technology solutions. We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Architect to join our dynamic team.

In this role, you will be responsible for consolidating data from different hospitals, enabling researchers to access and analyze the data to drive breakthroughs in healthcare.


Responsibilities:


  • Design and develop data architecture solutions for consolidating data from various hospitals
  • Implement and manage data lakes and data lakehouse architectures to ensure efficient and scalable data storage and retrieval
  • Utilize data enrichment techniques to enhance the quality and completeness of the collected data
  • Treat data as a product, ensuring its availability and usability for various stakeholders, including researchers and analysts
  • Develop and implement ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into a unified format
  • Enable search capabilities to enable easy and efficient data discovery
  • Effectively handle both structured and unstructured data, ensuring appropriate storage, indexing, and retrieval mechanisms
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to understand data requirements and provide guidance on data availability and usage
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, compliance, and privacy

Your profile:


Essentials:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect or in a similar role
  • Strong expertise in data architecture design and implementation, e.g. data lakes, data lakehouse, data enrichment, data as a product concepts
  • Proficiency in software development and handson experience with relevant programming languages and frameworks, e.g. python, javascript
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and techniques for data integration and transformation
  • Experience setting up search capabilities for efficient data discovery and retrieval
  • Ability to handle both structured and unstructured data effectively
  • Proactive and selfmotivated, with a passion for staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
In addition to the essentials we are looking for:

  • Knowledge of data governance principles, including data quality, compliance, and privacy requirements
  • Strong problemsolving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with crossfunctional teams
  • Knowledge of German
