The Vetsuisse-Faculty from the University of Bern, Switzerland is looking for a POSTDOC / PhD student (100%) starting 1st of July 2024 or earlier for the project: 'Swiss Vettriage System' - teletriage for animals.

This pilot project will establish the prerequisites for a veterinary teletriage system for animal owners of small animals (dogs and cats), equines and ruminants.

The primary objective of this project is to develop an extensive, structured question database. This database will be instrumental in remotely evaluating and determining the urgency of an animal's health condition.

Our goal is helping owners on whether immediate in-person veterinary care is needed for their animal or if the situation can be managed at home.

Furthermore, the vettriage system aims to support the veterinary emergency services by only directing genuine emergencies to the relevant practices and clinics.

Job description

Literature search on emergency triage in veterinary medicine
Development of an ordered question database for the different species that allows emergencytriage
Testing and validation of the question algorithm for the different species
Processing and publication of the research results in national and international scientificjournals
