200+ This is the current number of programs in clinical development at Novartis.

Many of these projects, which include new molecular entities as well as additional indications and different formulations for marketed products, are for medicines that could significantly advance treatment standards for patients worldwide.

You will use data and computational science to deliver value to drug formulation projects of small molecules in terms of speed, quality, cost, and sustainability.

You are responsible to support the process development at lab scale and the scale-up to the pilot and commercial scale.

Key responsibilities:

Lead modelling and simulation projects in collaboration with global teams. Application of inhouse and commercial tools to the drug product process development
Assistance for labphase experiments planning and transfer of process to commercial equipment. Development and deployment of innovative numerical tools
Delivery of highquality data within defined timelines and aligned to current industry expectations
Transfer of knowledge and presentation of results to the formulation experts
Generation of digital models and twins for drug product manufacturing unit operations
Develop data science solutions through their lifecycle, from ideation to deployment
Data cleaning and data wrangling. Utilize DoE concepts and QbD principles to achieve robust formulations and processes
Support the development and transfer of oral drug products by evaluation of material, formulation, and process parameters by means of applied statistics

Minimum requirements

Master's degree (>2 year proven experience) in process/mechanical/chemical engineering, physics, material science, applied mathematics, statistics, data science or similar discipline
Experience in pharma drug product process modeling, specifically unit operations related to powder handling (wet & dry granulation, fluid bed processes, compression)
Experience in process transfer from lab to pilot and commercial scale including Quality by design and regulatory requirements
Expertise in data science tools and methods (ML, statistics, visualization, data wrangling)
Expertise in programming and webapp development (Python and R)
Excellent communication skills (English) and data visualization skills
