The position
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Opex & Capex Controller to join our finance team.
As an Opex & Capex Controller, you will play a crucial role in monitoring, analysing, and controlling our operational and capital expenditures.
Your expertise in financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and compliance will contribute to the overall financial health and strategic decision-making of the organisation.
The role will report to the Planning and Performance Reporting Director and play a key role in the Group business control teamYour key responsibilities
Financial Planning and Budgeting:
Collaborate with department heads to develop comprehensive Opex and Capex budgets aligned with the organisational strategy, goals and objectives.
Review historical financial data, market trends, and business forecasts to provide inputs for accurate budget preparation.
Ensure that budgetary guidelines are communicated effectively to stakeholders and help them understand their financial responsibilities.
Coordinate and consolidate the group Opex & Capex three year plan including FTEs and prepare budget relevant presentations.
Opex and Capex Management:
Responsible for the consolidation and reporting of Group Opex & Capex (Refining, Terminals, B2C and Retail, Bunkering, Wholesale, Supply & Trading, Renewables & Corporate functions) from all regional offices.
Review Opex & Capex requests, assessing their financial impact, and providing recommendations to stakeholders.
Conduct regular cost variance analysis, investigating and explaining variances to management and taking appropriate corrective actions.
Analyse spending patterns and identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvements, and operational efficiency enhancements.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to Opex & Capex.
Analyse and interpret financial data, identifying trends, risks, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support decision-making.
Present financial analysis findings to management, highlighting areas of concern, and providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Assist in the development of financial models, scenarios, and forecasts to support long-term strategic planning and investment decisions.
Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support M&A and shareholders requests
Compliance and Audit:
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and internal control standards.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors for Opex and Capex-related audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Assist in the implementation of audit recommendations and process improvements to enhance financial controls and efficiency.
Assist in the formulation and implementation of financial policies and procedures related to Opex & Capex.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand their Opex and Capex requirements, providing financial guidance and support.
Collaborate with the finance team across the regions to ensure accurate recording and tracking of Opex and Capex transactions, including proper allocation and coding.
Profile:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and control, with a focus on Opex & Capex.
Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and financial reporting.
Proficient in financial analysis techniques, including cost variance analysis, forecasting, and financial modelling.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point and World.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to extract and work with large datasets.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrate high level of planning and organisational skills.
Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment is a must
Must be able to handle company information with high confidentiality and discretion.
Ability to handle change effectively and deal with ambiguity.
Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements.
Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) is a plus.
