The World Economic Forum is growing and deepening its engagement with public and private institutions that are actively promoting the anticipation and accelerated inclusive and responsible adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in human-centred and society-serving ways.

  • The C4IR is the foremost platform for leaders to anticipate emerging technologies and promote responsible sectoral and industry transformation. It drives progress by linking national ownership and action with global networkbased collaboration, learning and scaling via mainly governmenthosted and funded independent 4IR centres.
  • The C4IR is organized in (1) thematic teams and subteams leading communities and initiatives in areas ranging from "AI and Machine Learning" to "Bioeconomy" to "Space Technology", and (2) "Network and Partnerships Team" (NPT) which is responsible for engaging stakeholders across all thematics. Concretely, the objective of this team is (a) to engage stakeholders in missiondriven, multiyear, systemlevel initiatives, and (b) to enable the global network of national/thematic C4IR centres leverage such initiatives as well as the Forum's communities, convening power, digital infrastructure, visibility and brand.
  • Strategic Communications is critical to advance and showcase the work of C4IR teams, communities and partners and continue to establish the forum as a "go to" platform for insights on frontier technologies. This position will act as a liaison between the Forum's Global Communications Group and the C4IR teams to ensure consistent value delivery to C4IR Partners and showcase their technology leadership and impact.
  • Reporting Lines & Interactions
  • The Strategic Communications Lead, C4IR reports to the Head of Strategic Impact, C4IR and will operate across multiple teams and geographies in an entrepreneurial and fastpaced environment. They will collaborate closely with the Forum's Global Communications Group that manages its public engagement channels (social media, blogs, podcasts, video production), media relationships and collaborations and communications to the Forum partners and constituents. They will guide 4IR thematic teams to ensure high quality and impactful activities that respect the integrity of the Forum brand. They will also maintain productive relationships across all Forum Centres working on diverse thematic initiatives and communities. Establishing productive relationships externally and across the institution will be of utmost importance for succeeding in this role.

Breakdown of main responsibilities:

  • Define and implement annual communications strategies, priorities and calendar in collaboration with the Forum's Global Communications Group (GCG)
  • Collaborate closely with Global Communications Group, communications leads in C4IR flagship initiatives and Communications Lead, C4IR Network to ensure coordinated delivery on all above
  • Coordinate across teams to deliver communications activities and outcomes at Forum events, including publication launches, social media campaigns, press conferences, press releases, media meet ups
  • Design and deliver communications plans and KPIs for flagship events and publications such as the Global Technology Retreat or Top 10 Emerging Technologies Report
  • Manage delivery of social and multimedia outputs such as videos, blogs, podcasts in close collaboration with the Global Communications Group
  • Maintain C4IR collaterals such as website, marketing decks and Summit overviews through effective coordination across all C4IR teams
  • Support C4IR and Forum leadership in responding to institutional priorities and processes (such as Board memos, Annual Reports, Summit talking points or leadership briefings)
  • Support information sharing and capacity building for internal and external stakeholders of C4IR such as through newsletters, intranet pages, board memos, annual reports, community calls or training programs
  • Inform the C4IR agenda on frontier technologies through expert engagement, summits, and lead delivery of strategic content and publications
  • Reinforce the Forum's position as a "go to" platform for insights on frontier technologies, and shaping their influence on economies and societies
  • Track KPIs and analytics for C4IR communications activities, and drive innovation that improves results
  • Preferred requirements and experience
  • Master's degree or equivalent in communications, management, policy or related fields 7+ years work experience in corporate communications, events, public relations, media, network or community management, incubators or accelerators or related fields.
  • Handson experience developing and managing complex projects and operations, building highperforming and cross functional teams and helping to turn ideas into tangible action and impact.
