Positions responsibilities:

  • Gather and investigate any kind of data (financial, IT, etc.) needed for the preparation of the VAT returns for Swiss and foreign entities and thus liase with internal colleagues in this respect (finance teams, IT teams, etc.).
  • Liaise with external compliance service providers where needed (e.g. foreign VAT recovery); with the auditors on full range of VAT related matters (mainly during the year end and mid year processes but not only) and with the Swiss and foreign tax authorities where needed on VAT related matters.
  • Managed the full cycle of VAT compliance in all EFG Swiss entities (inhouse) but also in the foreign EFG affiliates (e.g. financial sector VAT specificities, intermediary notion, Allin and combined fees, financial products, VAT cash flow management, VAT recovery rate computation including the lumpsum method for banks, etc.).
  • Manage any potential Swiss or foreign VAT audit (either internal or external from the qualified tax authorities).
  • Automate as much as possible the VAT computations and implement the corresponding VAT processes and procedures all over the EFG Group (also considering the best practices).
  • Review and maintain the existing controls and monitoring (and document and enhance them if needed).
  • Assist the other corporate tax team members in their daily tasks on:
  • Maintain the tax reporting in financial statements (year-end and mid-year)
  • Assist in the consolidated reporting purposes (including monthly reviews and analysis of deferred taxes and all tax accounts and provisions + effective tax rate)
  • Deferred taxes followup, computation and justification
  • Group tax data collection system(s) with quantitative (i.e. including records of tax payments, tax provision, transfer pricing, etc.) and qualitative data (i.e. processes, insurance, loans, guarantees, subordinated debts, contracts, correspondence with SFTA, rulings, etc.)
  • CbCR
  • Delivering a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within timeframe
  • Building relationships to provide excellent consulting and expertise
  • Providing advice and guidance to the standard operations on all taxes including Corporate Income Taxes, Transfer Pricing, stamp duties and withholding taxes
  • Review of contracts to provide advices on all tax implications
  • Develop and implement tax strategies that align with business goals
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks
  • Liaise with internal and external advisors/auditors
  • Provide support with various internal audits and special tax related projects
  • Prepare all tax papers in regular basis and handle all information data requests
  • Coordinate outsourced tax preparation work (in Switzerland and abroad)
  • Lead dedicated corporate tax project(s) from A to Z

Position skills:

  • 3 years in a VAT function will be considered as a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French (Italian and/or German appreciated)
  • Expert in MS Office
  • Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with stakeholders and communicate the benefits of tax initiatives (Initiative/autonomy )
  • Strong organizational skills and oriented to details
  • Strong interest in tax regulations and laws
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures will be considered as a plus
  • Extensive corporate tax knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance and procedures for banks
