Our 2 Stroke business is paving the way in the new era of decarbonisation within the marine industry through innovative dual fuel technology development on our 2 Stroke engines and collaborating with customers to future proof their business through large retrofits.


We have now a exciting opportunity for a new
Project Purchase to join our 2-Stroke Engine business in our
Frauenfeld offices on a permanent basis.

We have now a exciting opportunity for a new
Project Purchaser to join our 2-Stroke Engine business in our
Frauenfeld offices on a permanent basis.


In this role you will become a integral part in the delivery of multiple large retrofit projects which will require you leverage our supplier base and partner with internal stakeholders to ensure effectively project delivery.

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for purchasing and coordinating of parts belonging to Wärtsilä Services Projects in accordance with Strategic Purchaser
  • Elaboration of price analyses, inquiries and negotiation of prices and conditions with suppliers for Services Projects in accordance with Strategic Purchasing
  • Perform purchasing and/or material planning activities in defined area of responsibility in order to secure material availability
  • Investigate on future demands with various internal and external resources
  • Review and verify technical specifications and requirements as basis for material planning or request for quotations in cooperation with engineering organizations
  • Execution of sourcing strategies of components and integration into the sourcing concept of the Wärtsilä-Group
  • Realization of saving potentials along the supply chain
  • Benchmarking of the global market
  • Cooperation with internal Stakeholder (Product Management / PCM / Quality and Logistics, CAC, GCA)
  • Approval of payments to suppliers according to delegation of authority Maintenance of master data in SAP R/3 MM

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A background within purchasing, preferably within a manufacturing environment/Original Equipment Manufacturer
  • Strong Supply Chain knowledge with understanding of direct and indirect influencers
  • Effective problem solving mindset
  • Excellent organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Exposure to Project Management
  • Brilliant communication skills, bother verbal and written
  • Fluency in the English language, any additional languages are a plus.
  • Seasoned supplier negotiations skills combined with a strong attention to detail and able to establish positions of strength
  • Strong organisational skills, comfortable with managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
