    Internship Project: AI-Driven Variant Prioritization for Clinical Genomics

    • Bridging cutting-edge computational methods with real-world clinical impact, the role of tertiary analysis in genetic testing and its challenges will be explored.

    The internship project involves elevating state-of-the-art AI algorithms to accelerate variant prioritization and interpretation during the tertiary analysis step. The goal is to develop a prototype workflow addressing a selected task in this process.
    Knowledge gained includes understanding main principles and current challenges in tertiary analysis, use of different AI models to address those challenges, creating a prototype workflow that aims to solve one task efficiently using state-of-the-art tools, reproducible benchmarking procedures as well as industrial experience within an international team collaborating across multiple teams and departments working on developing software for medical devices including general concepts of design controls.
