About the role

Location:

As a Legal Counsel you will provide effective legal guidance for matters that concern Novartis Pharma Services' (NPhS) activities for more than 80 countries across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia

Your key responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Take the lead in drafting, providing legal support and negotiating NPhS's commercial agreements with its partners
  • Provide legal advice in relation to a wide variety of commercial and export distribution topics
  • Drive common standards and create synergies in the NPhS markets, and assist the company to proactively prevent and resolve business and legal issues.
  • Provide key support to the NPhS legal team, the wider Basel NPhS team, and country/cluster management teams
  • Collaborate effectively within the legal function, and across other functions and business units, to ensure alignment and minimize risk exposure.
  • Foster compliance and auditreadiness in the markets, in particular by providing guidance proactively on permitted activities

Role Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Law degree with post Bar/Law School experience, ideally gained within a healthcare / pharmaceutical environment (alternatively with a toptier law firm representing healthcare and technology clients)
  • Proficiency in German and English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, together with a high ability to influence and negotiate as well as a demonstrated professional and culturally sensitive work ethic
  • Proven ability to work independently and efficiently and meet tight deadlines as well as a strong experience in handling a high volume of multiple, often complex projects simultaneously

Desirable requirements:

  • Swiss legal qualifications preferred
  • Experience of legal advisory within the Swiss/EU markets, in order to be able to advise easily on European pharmaceutical law topics
