Role:


The Capacity Building Unit at the ISO Central Secretariat implements a comprehensive development assistance programme for ISO members in developing countries and offers a wide range of training opportunities to all its members.

We are currently looking for a Programme Manager to join the team of professionals in our Capacity Building unit, at the ISO Central Secretariat (ISO/CS) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Through the implementation of the ISO Action Plan for developing countries and its capacity building initiatives, this position will support ISO members in developing countries to contribute actively to the ISO system and fully realize the benefits of using ISO standards that address social, economic and environmental challenges.


Key responsibilities:


  • Manage the project cycle for capacity building projects in response to needs expressed by ISO members in developing countries: project planning (develop concept notes, project documents and related budget), project implementation (F2F, hybrid, virtual), project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Identify and develop new capacity building initiatives in support of the implementation of the ISO Action Plan for developing countries.
  • Identify opportunities to coordinate selected ISO's capacity building projects with international and regional partner organizations.
  • Develop training material, publications, case studies and other resource material related to ISO's capacity building projects.
  • Contribute to the development of annual workplans, provide input to the performance monitoring system and related tools, and write progress reports for different audiences.

Qualification and Experience:


  • Extensive experience in planning, implementing and monitoring of international technical assistance projects, with focus on human and institutional capacity building and training activities.
  • Relevant working experience and understanding of national quality infrastructure matters (standardization and/or conformity assessment) in support of international trade and the UN SDGs.
  • Experience in technical assistance in standardization in developing countries would be an asset.
  • Experience in developing resource material for capacity building projects and preparing progress and financial reports.
  • Relevant university degree, a postgraduate degree would be an asset.
  • Fluent in English, including excellent writing skills.
  • Additional language skills (French and/or Spanish) would be an asset.
  • Experience in blended capacity building delivery (F2F, hybrid, virtual).
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools is required.
