Organizational Context:


The global vision of IFRCs WASH Unit is: 'To ensure that universal, equitable and affordable access to WASH services, from emergency response to sustainable development, is achieved as a human right and one that impacts positively upon health, dignity and wellbeing'.


The IFRC WASH team are proposing a digital solution to manage the broad and invaluable inventory of global, regional, and local WASH knowledge generated and gathered by WASH actors in the Movement.

A comprehensive WASH Hub, aimed at sharing and developing best practice on WASH within the Movement, could be an essential tool to facilitate effective, high-quality WASH programming.

The WASH Hub will centralize, store and connect all our WASH knowledge, information, and expertise, in a single, secure digital system linked to website.


Job Purpose:

The WASH Knowledge Management (KM) & Content Consultantwill lead implementation of the _WASH Knowledge Management and Online Hub Project_.


The KM & Content Consultant is an important role which encompasses understanding user needs and requirements, working with specialist IT support to develop and launch the online hub, and promoting it with internal and external stakeholders.


As the principal content manager of the new WASH Hub platform, the position holder will manage and produce compelling content, including relevant learning, resource materials, and advocacy messages and ensure that the platform communicates effectively with its audiences.

The post holder will curate and update content for the WASH Hub website and have a unique opportunity to enhance knowledge and learning around WASH.


Alignment to the IFRC's objectives and strategy
AOF - WASH

WASH is an 'area of focus' for the IFRC and membership.

This consultancy directly supports the IFRC WASH strategic direction, in which public health WASH is one of four pillars and community engagement and accountability (CEA), and data and evidence are crucial enablers to achieve the goal of National Societies being supported to implement high-quality, appropriate and effective emergency, recovery and long-term WASH programming.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:


_ Stakeholder Management_

  • Builds relationships within Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement to develop network for collecting, curating (i.e. updating news and events pages, responding to FAQs and maintaining uptodate contact profiles for National Societies), and disseminating content on the Hub.

_ Content Management _

  • Collects, collates, analyses, assesses, and interprets information from a range of sources to lead on content management activities.
  • Take responsibility for all content management tasks: curate, create, upload, publish, promote, and archive content in creative ways, ensuring appropriate quality across published information. Use WordPress as a content management system (CMS) to manage the creation and modification of digital content. Ensure website text is accessible, informative and interesting, paying close attention to narrative flow, messaging, accuracy, tone, and house style.
  • Project manage the translation of resources into different languages, coordinating a team of translators.
  • Build a Community of Practice on the WASH Hub by creating guidance material to support the use of the WASH Hub and by coordinating the collaborative areas (e.g. forum and FAQ pages) with other team members.
  • Support in the collaboration of content with relevant stakeholders within and outside the Movement in line with the WASH Hub's objectives.
  • Manage collaboration with WASH focal points to produce content for the Hub and deliver communication activities to support the wider dissemination strategy.
  • Support the WASH in Public Health Senior Officer with the development of the WASH Hub dissemination strategy and deliver activities to support roll out and use across the Movement.
  • Proactively make improvements to the Cash Hub platform content management processes, and effective use of WordPress.
  • Ensure that web content complies with copyright and privacy regulations.

_ Communications and learning_

  • Manage Cash Hub communication activities, including newsletter, social media, and blogs, and building a repository of personal testimonies, quotes, and images.
  • Support with the organisation of learning events, such as webinars and virtual conferences.
  • Measuring impact and user feedback.
  • Articulate website Key Performance Indicators and develop a strategy to meet them, including specific activities to collect feedback on user satisfaction and act to implement improvements.
