Project description

Root-canal treatments are among the most difficult procedures in dentistry. This often leads to treatment failure and reinfection of the tooth. Lumendo's cleaning device employs cavitation effects to clean root canals more efficiently and thoroughly. In a recent clinical study, we showed that the device can be used safely in patients.

The goal of this project is to receive the medical device certification for the cleaning device. For this, it will be your job to plan & carry out performance and safety tests. The test setups need to be built, the tests executed and documented according to our QMS system.

To make sure we meet the needs of the dentists and patients, we will evaluate the usability together with them and implement their feedback.

With our collaborations at ETH Zurich or the dental hospital of the University of Zurich, we are accessing the pre-clinical and clinical performance.


You will be working hand in hand with the product manager, clinical and medical device experts to bring the device to the market by the beginning of 2024.

Tasks

  • Establish test plans; develop, and build test setups for V&V testing
  • Literature research of normative requirements for medical devices
  • Perform the tests and draft the test reports
  • Participate in risk assessments and establish mitigations
  • Implement changes into the prototypes
  • Prepare and collect userand usability feedback
  • Support the preclinical and clinical evaluation
  • Communication with laboratories, suppliers, and manufacturing partners
  • Teamwork with our development team as well as with experienced clinicians

Requirements:


  • Bachelor/ Master student in mechanical, electrical, biomedical engineering
  • Experience in prototyping, electronics, control, programming, and CAD
  • Interested in medical devices
  • Highly motivated and responsible; outgoing and handson personality
  • Independent and wellorganized working style
