The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation and fundamentals of nature. For the newly formed group "Atmosphere-Biosphere-Interactions" in the Laboratory of Atmospheric Chemistry (LAC) we are looking for a tenure-track scientist.

The LAC investigates the impact of anthropogenic activities on fundamental processes in the atmosphere, and with that on air quality, human health, and the climate.

The Atmosphere-Biosphere-Interactions group aims at understanding natural emissions in the anthropogenically perturbed atmosphere. Special focus lies on their role in cloud formation and related climate feedbacks.

Your tasks:

Design and implementation of competitive scientific research within the strategic scope of the LAC and the Atmosphere-BiosphereInteractions group specifically, including collaboration with research groups within and outside PSI
Training and supervision of PhD students and Postdocs in experimental work and use of stateoftheart data analysis tools
Publication of scientific results in peerreviewed journals and presentation at international conferences
Preparation of proposals and acquisition of funding to support research activities
Teaching at university level

Your profile:

PhD degree in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, Physics or related
Multiyear experience at postdoctoral level
Excellent research track record in Atmospheric Sciences or Environmental Sciences
Highly skilled and experienced in atmospheric experimental research, including indepth expertise in operating atmospheric chemical ionization mass spectrometers, and organization and leading of laboratory and field campaigns
Enthusiastic, motivated and able to operate in a team environment
Excellent organizational and communication skills in English
Interest in establishing close collaboration with atmospheric modellers
