Applicants are invited for a 1-year full-time research position in pediatric craniofacial malformations at the Clinic for Oral and Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery, University Hospital Basel.

The starting date can be or by arrangement.

Your position

Research position with clinical involvement as part of a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) project "Learning-based 3D Infant Face and Head Model for Medical Applications".

You will be part of the Facial and Cranial Anomalies led by PD Dr. Dr. Andreas Müller PhD (Link), in affiliation with the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Department of Clinical Research.

The project is in close collaboration with the Computer Graphics Laboratory at ETH Zürich (Barbara Solenthaler) who will develop a fully virtual infant face and head model.

The project will cover several aspects from validating the model in clinical and surgical setting to conducting clinical research using the model.

Upon meeting the requirements for enrollment at the Medical Faculty, the opportunity to pursue a doctorate in medicine or dentistry is supported (Link).

The overall aim of the project is the development of an algorithm to generate individualized reference morphology in treatment of infants with craniofacial malformations.

Your tasks:

Extraction and registration of data from medical records
Preprocessing and analysis of 3D images and clinical records
Evaluation of the model for studying pediatric craniofacial anomalies
Engagement in clinical practice in pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery

Your profile

You have completed your master's degree in medicine and/or dentistry
Experience and interest in 3D clinical image analysis
Have interest in pediatric patients
Enjoy working in a dynamic multidisciplinary and multicultural team
