The newly formed Technology for Earth cluster takes on this agenda, engaging leaders from public and private sectors and fostering multistakeholder collaboration.

As part of a strategic effort to step-up climate technology-related workstreams, the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution is recruiting a Community Lead, Technology for Earth.

This role will manage ambitious initiatives and thought leadership development—mobilizing business leaders, experts from top research universities worldwide, government officials, start-up entrepreneurs, media, and civil society organizations.

Reporting lines & interactions


The Community Lead, Technology for Earth reports to the Forum's Head of Technology for the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and operates as a programme manager for key initiatives as well as a strategic partner.

The Lead will also actively engage in building and maintaining productive relationships with independent C4IR Centres and Forum Partners. Establishing productive relationships externally and across the institution will be of utmost importance for succeeding in this role.


Breakdown of main responsibilities:

  • Workstream Management (50 %)_
  • Ensure successful delivery of Valuing Earth Observation and Technology for Climate Adaptation workstreams, including their Q3-Q4 2023 working group meetings, multistakeholder dialogues, and publications.
  • Manage Project Fellows daytoday.
  • Support the organisation of Centre and Forum's global events.
  • Keep workstreams on target, timeline and budget through the effective management and leadership of teams, internal and external stakeholders, budgets and processes, as well as through effective communication and reporting
  • Partnering with Head, Technology Strategy; Thematic Lead, Space; and Thematic Lead; Bioeconomy, develop vision and execute future workstream sprints for the cluster's longterm impact, driving technologyenabled solutions for critical environmental challenges.
  • Business and C4IR Network Engagement (30 %)_
  • Engage existing and prospective Forum Partners in the initiative to contribute to member retention and acquisitions.
  • Build and curate a relevant multistakeholder community committed to effecting systemic change, interacting with business, governments, and civil society.
  • Identify opportunities for the Forum's global network of independent national and thematic Fourth Industrial Revolution Centres (C4IR Centres) to build on, benefit from and contribute to the Forum's responsible bioeconomy initiatives
  • Communications and Thought Leadership (20%)_
  • Oversee the development and review initiative strategy, content, reports, policy papers and blogs.
  • Ensure that the initiative is wellpositioned externally incl. media.
  • Keep abreast of and analyse the implications of key global and regionallevel industry policy changes.
  • Identify related opportunities to inform policy at global or national level in priority countries.
  • Support the delivery and monitor the impact reporting and results measurement workstreams for the for Centre.


Preferred requirements and experience- Broad intellectual background and interests with a Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant topic such as business administration, economics, data science, sustainability or the natural sciences; and a proven interest in global affairs.- 7+ years of experience in private and/or public sector, including as a project manager with a track record of building and driving successful initiatives related to technology, climate, or sustainability.- Deep understanding of emerging technologies and their potential in addressing environmental and climate challenges.- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.- Demonstrated experience in managing diverse teams and leading cross-functional projects.- Passion for sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and a strong commitment to making a positive impact on global challenges.
