The Next Generation Sequencing Platform (NGSP) at the University of Bern is a technology core facility performing advanced sequencing experiments for researchers at the University of Bern, the Inselspital, and many external users from around Switzerland.

The NGSP is a full-service facility offering expertise in every aspect of a next generation sequencing experiment from project design, sample preparation, NGS library production and sequencing.

Currently, instruments from illumina (NovaSeq 6000, NextSeq1000, MiSeq & iSeq100), Pacific Biosciences (Sequel IIe), and 10xGenomics are in use at the NGSP.

Tasks

The main duties will involve contributing to the laboratory work for illumina and PacBio based research projects. This will include sample quality control steps, sequencing library protocols and the operation and maintenance of our instruments.

Requirements:

Completed training as a Biomedical Analyst (HF), Biology Laboratory Technician, a BSc in Biology or prove an equivalent qualification.

You should have practical experience working in a research or diagnostic laboratory. Experience in nucleic acid extraction, analysis, and/or NGS library protocols is highly beneficial. Furthermore, you are a team player who is highly flexible, communicative, organised and has decent computer skills. Apart from speaking German or French, a very good command of English is imperative.
