Laboratory Technician / Chemical Technician (Temporary for 1 year)

Join our Technology and Innovation Team within the Chemtech division as a Laboratory Technician/Chemical Technician (Temporary for 1 year) to substitute our lab technician during pregnancy and maternity leave.

You will be responsible for performing analysis, characterization analysis, pilot testing and implementing new technologies specifically on separation processes.

Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and reviewing validation protocols and investigating discrepancies, furthermore you'll interact with global process & sales team and clients and solve complex technical tasks.


Your main tasks and responsibilities:


  • Characterization analysis: GC, GC-MS, Headspace GC, UV-VIS spectrophotometer, titration, HPLC, water content, density, viscosity, etc.
  • Development and implementation of analytical methods.
  • Support of execution of internal and external test projects for the development and optimization of process technologies.
  • Suggest and implement improvements in the analytical laboratory.
  • Instrument Expert, responsible for analytical equipment (i.e. maintenance and qualification of the systems, internal or external, and making sure that the systems are functioning correctly).
  • Cooperation in the implementation of measures regarding Safety and Environment.
  • Preparation of the lab for customer tests.
  • Taking samples in the test loops if necessary.

What you bring to Sulzer:


  • Work experience: > 2 years of experience in chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical or flavor & fragrance environment.
  • Education: Apprenticeship, Technical apprenticeship

Subject:
Laboratory technician.

  • Fluent English and German skills.
  • Highly proficient with various instruments and techniques such as GC, GC-MS, Headspace GC, UV-VIS spectrophotometer, titration, HPLC and measurement of physical properties such as water content, density and viscosity.
  • Awareness for safe handling of chemicals, potentially hazardous materials and equipment.
  • Experience in assembly and operating mini or pilot plant equipment is an advantage.
  • Good technical knowledge and experience in analytical chemistry.
  • Soft skills: great team player, strong communication skills, strong organization ability, very independent, flexible, trustworthy and adaptable.
