About the team you are joining


IATA's Sustainability and Economics division works with airlines, regulators and civil society to develop and implement policies, standards, and solutions that support the sustainable development of air transport and mitigate its impact on the environment.

You will report to the Senior Vice President of Sustainability and Economics and you will be responsible for leading the Division's three policy teams of Climate, Sustainability and Economic Policy.

In the context of the industry's commitment to Net Zero 2050, you will help drive IATA towards achieving this mission, contribute to developing the strategy and the formulation of annual goals for sustainability, and the elaboration of economic policy and standards as it pertains to our industry.

Your leadership will integrate the three sub-teams into a cohesive unit and you will have direct, operational and management responsibility for the Economic Policy team.

What your day would be like

  • You will lead positive change to generate an inclusive, motivated, high performance workplace culture and will provide operational management of output, ensuring teams have the necessary skills and capabilities to deliver high quality policy projects and analysis on time and to a publishable standard.
  • You will identify opportunities for early intervention to drive the policy debate and maximize the influence IATA and the industry can have on the policy agenda.
  • Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to engage effectively with stakeholders across the air transport value chain, including policymakers and regulators. You will identify and fulfil opportunities to represent the industry's views in a range of fora.
  • You will maintain effective, ongoing communication and collaboration with the SVP and Division leadership and work closely to support the SVP to achieve their responsibilities.
We would love to hear from you if

  • A degree in Economics, Business and/or Sustainability. Postgraduate qualifications would be a plus.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in developing and leading highperforming teams and managing change and complexity in a dynamic industry context. Commercial airline experience would be an advantage.
  • An extensive work history of applied economic analysis and research which is used to develop policy or influence policy positions and advocacy outcomes. The ability to identify the need for economic modelling, workshops, surveys, etc. to inform policy development, evaluation, and responses is required.
  • A comprehensive understanding and direct experience of the machinery of government and policy processes. Experience in providing strategic policy recommendations and in direct policymaking within a central government agency would be highly valued.
