Ginkgo is constructing, editing, and redesigning the living world in order to answer the globe's growing challenges in health, energy, food, materials, and more.

Our bioengineers make use of an in-house automated foundry for designing and building new organisms.


Position Overview:


Key Responsibilities:

Market Expansion:

Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to expand Ginkgo's presence in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, with a primary focus on the European market.

Partnership Development:
Identify, evaluate, and cultivate strategic partnerships with big pharma and smaller biotech companies to drive collaborative research initiatives, licensing agreements and partnerships

Brand Establishment:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance Ginkgo's brand recognition in the European market through effective communication, marketing, and
relationship-building
efforts

Conferences: Scout and attend key conferences to help achieve Ginkgo's objectives in Europe

Negotiation and

Deal Closure:

Lead negotiations for partnership agreements, licensing deals, and other collaborations, ensuring favorable terms and mutually beneficial outcomes for Ginkgo Bioworks.

Market Analysis:
Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities to inform business development strategies and decision-making.

Relationship Management:
Foster and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, opinion leaders, and decision-makers in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries


Minimum Requirements:

-
Typically 8-10+ YOE plus PhD (or equivalent experience with a Bachelor's), including proven experience growing and developing a team to deliver results
-
Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in business development within the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors, with a proven track record of successfully establishing partnerships and driving business growth
-


Industry Knowledge:
Solid understanding of synthetic biology, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical research. Previous experience in roles such as Biotech Business Development or Pharma Search & Evaluation is highly desirable.

Strategic Thinker:
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to identify and capitalize on business opportunities.

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts in a clear and compelling manner.

Collaborative Spirit:
Proven ability to work collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams and build strong relationships internally and externally.


Preferred Capabilities and Experience:

PhD., MD or MBA preferred

Deep understanding of drug development across different modalities (RNA, GTx, Biologics, etc.) is a plus
-
Prior experience within a fast-growth company or entrepreneurial environment is a plus.

Demonstrated commitment, self-motivation, and drive, and enthusiasm about being a part of Ginkgo's mission

Advanced French-language skills and deep knowledge of the French pharmaceutical market is a plus
