Regional Technical Training Manager
The Regional technical Training Manager - based in Basel - will be the point of contact for all technical training activities, covering EMEA MROs, FBOs and technical apprentices


Description/Tasks:

  • Assess organizationwide technical training needs and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
  • Map out annual and consolidated technical training / technical apprenticeship plans for MROs and FBOs in consultation with site management
  • Design, develop and administer technical training / technical apprenticeship programs (outsourced and/or inhouse) in coordination with internal / external stakeholders such as HR and operations.
  • Ensure that training milestones and goals are met while adhering to approved technical training budget
  • Conduct or facilitate required and recommended training sessions
  • Ensure that training materials and programs are current, accurate, and effective
  • Maintain updated curriculum database and training records in Success Factors including apprentices
  • Determine and select appropriate training methods or activities (e.g. virtual, OJT, technical skills development)
  • Coordinate employee / apprentice registration for and participation in external technical training programs / courses e.g. aircraft type courses
  • Promote available technical training to employees and apprentices, and provide necessary information about sessions
  • Use known training principles and stay uptodate on new training methods and techniques
  • Design, prepare and order educational aids and materials
  • Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee / apprentice skills and KPIs
  • Manage and maintain inhouse training facilities and equipment
  • Develop and monitor technical training ROI metric
  • Identify problems and opportunities such as operational changes or industry developments that training could improve.
  • Ensure apprenticeship programs are developing technically skilled apprentices
  • Educate managers / technical trainers & instructors / mentors on their role in supporting and developing apprentices as an essential part of their jobs
  • Evaluate and qualify apprentice technical trainers and instructors
  • Facilitate Continuous Improvement Kaizen events

Qualification/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Licensed Aircraft Engineer holding an EASA66 B1/C or B2/C type rated AML
  • Post graduate technical training certificate / diploma preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in technical training in an aviation environment, out of which 2 years of experience as a skills trainer / instructor or coach / mentor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Instructional skills
  • Project Management experience
  • Thorough understanding of technical training processes
  • Ability to moderate large groups
  • Organized and detailoriented
  • Basic knowledge in continuous improvement methodologies preferred
  • Fluent in English with very good knowledge of German
