    About the position:

    Caterpillar will be launching new Battery Electric Machines over the next several years, and this shift to Electrification will bring new challenges to construction sites. New digital tools will be needed to help with the design, planning, and operation of these sites. The Electrification Site Services Product Owner will work closely with the Electrification and Energy Solution group to develop these tools needed to support new services on site. This role will be responsible for the definition of these new tools and will work with Analytics, Incubation, and Application teams to see them taken from prototype to production.

    What You Will Do:

  • Conduct research on customers/user needs to define personas and problems to be addressed.
  • Responsible for documenting and ensuring alignment on product features – using both formal (e.g. Epics and Features) and informal approaches depending on the situation
  • Manages the creation, maintenance, and prioritization of the Product Backlogs according to business and strategic value in alignment with E&ES partners.
  • Partners with UX teams to support Figma development, translating requirements into concept designs and providing documentation on screen functionality, to ensure interface design meets user needs.
  • Coordinates with Engineering, Analytics, and other Product Management teams to develop and deploy new features and new releases on schedule.
  • Key Skills required for successful assignment:

  • User research: Ability to conduct discussions with customers to understand their needs and test various hypothesis to validate business value.
  • Application Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new software application from concept through to production.
  • Prototyping and Early-Stage Development: Ability to take new concepts and identify approaches to quickly test and validate low-fidelity versions.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Ability to accurately analyze situations, propose alternatives, and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment and input from various stakeholders.
  • Effective Communications: Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, requirements, and processes in a manner appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize features, enhancements, and integrations based on customer feedback, market research, and industry trends. Work closely with business development teams, design, analytics, and engineering to translate product requirements into detailed user stories, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
  • Software Product Management: Knowledge of software product management; ability to operate and manage software product development projects at all stages of the product development lifecycle.
  • Feature Documentation: Knowledge of technical writing; ability to write detailed product requirements for data structures to support new application or analytic features/functionality.
  • Top Candidates will also have:

  • Domain Knowledge: Understanding of electric vehicles, energy management, site power, charge management, or other domains relevant to electrification
  • Speed to Output: Experience in an agile working environment of quick turns and frequent iteration.
  • User Ethnographic Studies & UX Design: Deep user focus to define user problems to address and design approaches to visualize and information needed to make necessary decisions.
  • Dashboarding skills: Ability to quickly design and build basic dashboards to convey data to users.
  • Product Roadmap Development: Ability to group and phase a range of deliverables from MVP to follows on releases, in a way that progressively adds capability and builds trust with users.
  • Stakeholder management: Ability to work with complex stakeholder groups to deliver results.
