Team Overview


The Debt Capital Markets ("DCM") Origination team are product specialists responsible for winning debt capital market business and providing expertise to frequent, infrequent and prospective issuers in partnership with Investment Banking Coverage & Advisory ("IBC&A") and the Institutional Client Group ("ICG").

Typical clients include public sector entities, corporates, banks and insurance companies, both investment grade and emerging market.

The primary products offered by the team are public bonds, private placements, corporate hybrids, covered bonds, Islamic finance (Sukuk), liability management and bank / insurance regulatory capital.


The clients are typically the largest and most sophisticated parties in the financing market and as a result the transactions are often high profile.

As a result, covering these clients can be a demanding task and expectations are high both internally and externally. Capital market origination is a highly competitive field, with many banks positioning for similar types of business.


The Switzerland DCM team has responsibility both for the origination of new business with clients locally in Switzerland and the broader global mandate for originating CHF denominated issuance with foreign clients looking to diversify their sources of funding.


Role

  • The role will involve frequent interaction with all areas of Deutsche Bank, including Debt Syndicate, the Risk Management Solutions team in the Corporate Bank, Investment Banking Coverage (IBC) and Regional Management, in addition to infrastructure areas including legal and compliance
  • The role is expected to include management responsibility for other DCM professionals covering the region and ensuring the team is well trained and able to offer best inclass solutions
  • The role will be to identify new business opportunities across the region and mobilise the wider team to win transactions with all types of clients, from inaugural issuers through to frequent borrowers

Main Skills Required

  • The ability to forge new relationships in order to win bond business and a deliver mandates with new clients and inaugural issuers
  • Existing relationships at the CFO / Treasurer level across Switzerland (and broader CHF issuer set) region, especially with a wide variety of corporate clients and financial institutions
  • Previous experience managing a substantial DCM franchise in the region
  • An entrepreneurial mindset is critical to success in the position, along with the conviction to challenge the status quo and develop new revenue opportunities
  • German language skills are strongly complimentary
