The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation and fundamentals of nature. The Control Systems section provides and maintains core software, services and infrastructure to build reliable and robust control systems for the large research facilities at PSI.

Our critical infrastructure guarantees availability and accessibility to services and data across all our accelerators, and enables researchers and engineers to develop, improve and operate our machines.

We are looking for a
Group Leader Control System Infrastructure and Services*:

Your tasks:

Leading and supporting a team of highly skilled software engineers and system administrators
You will be part in identifying how to streamline and unify our way of working, together with your colleagues within the section and with input from our stakeholders
Main point of contact to our central IT department, aligning with them and driving our needs, as well as implementing central directives within our systems
Designing, developing, operating, and maintaining stateoftheart accelerator infrastructure, services, and system administration
Contributing to the section's vision, strategy and culture and responsibility for implementation of agreed strategic goals and processes at the group level

Your profile:

Degree in software engineering, computer science or equivalent practical experience combined with knowledge in operating productive software systems primarily in Unix / Linux environments
Well versed in Python and other programming languages for tools development, package management and host management systems
You like a dynamic environment, gain satisfaction from streamlining flows and seeing systems running smoothly, and writing tools to simplify the life of others
You possess sound technical, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Prior experience in leadership is desired
