This role will partner with business leaders in the Technical Operations teams (manufacturing, engineering, automation, process development and other TechOps global and site organizations) as well as Global Quality to understand business strategy, imperatives and requirements, articulate technology strategy and roadmaps, and deliver effective solutions to drive business value.

You will also provide leadership to OT delivery organization(CoE) to ensure Lonza is implementing integrated, robust technology solutions which are responsive to changing business needs


Key responsibilities:

  • Act as the Information Technology business partner for Technical Operations and Quality, define and manage the technology strategy and the portfolio of related initiatives, programs and projects
  • Establish and manage relationships with global and site Techops and Quality teams, define and implement a working operating model and appropriate governance
  • Work to identify opportunities to create additional value and improve business processes and outcomes, maximize the benefits of standardization of technologies and leverage across sites
  • Plan and manage programs and projects with business partners, covering initial scoping, vendor review, selection, implementation and support and lead site implementation engagements,
  • Develop transition plans for processes and data, and together with the business champions facilitate OCM (Organization Change Management) including communication and delivery
  • Partner with other Information Technology teams to design and build integrated solutions that are in alignment with Lonza IT guiding principles and the enterprise architecture framework
  • Provide key inputs into the overall Lonza technology roadmap
  • Lead a team to transform and evolve current operations to a higher level of maturity in order to improve reliability, process efficiencies and reduce costs,
  • Implement and maintain both SaaS, onpremise and hybrid solutions, adhering to GxP validation and Quality standards
  • Manage key vendor relationships to support implementation programs/projects and ongoing support as well as manage a portion of the Information Technology budget related to the area of responsibilities: licensing, support budgets, contact renewals

Key requirements:

  • MSc, MEng or MBA Engineering/ Comp Science
  • Experienced in working at executive levels and crossfunctionally across the organization to support business strategy
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities communicating and reporting at the executive level
  • Possess a confident style which reflects emotional intelligence and a handson approach.
  • Ability to manage complexity, help team prioritize, and make effective decisions in complex, crossfunctional, changing environments. Proven leadership of highperforming crossfunctional global teams in matrixed organizations
  • Proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading IT transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environments by taking advantage of digital opportunities to innovate business models and enable the digitalization of the business
  • Ability to drive change and build capabilities that effectively balance the needs between continuously exploiting capabilities to optimize operational efficiency and delivering innovative and agile IT solutions to enable the business to explore digital business opportunities
  • Strong overall technical background and comfortable with data analytics, cloud/digital strategy as well as knowledgeable and experience within the healthcare and life sciences business environment, pharmaceutical industry, drug development and manufacturing experience
  • Leading the identification, implementation, and support of TechOps and Manufacturing Systems including the build out of a manufacturing site for clinical phase products
  • Building and leading a team to support manufacturing capabilities and strong background in Manufacturing processes, Operations Technology (OT), Industry 4.0, and Digital Transformation
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with executive leadership, key stakeholders and project teams to drive project delivery
  • Extensive knowledge of best practices and techniques related to SDLC, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 1
  • Strategic thinker, keeping big picture in mind while ensuring execution excellence and large scale program leadership for enterprise level transformations
  • Ability to organize and work effectively with large teams made up of internal staff and external onshore/offshore vendors
